Summary

This grant helps women in the U.S. who are seeking to enter, transition into, or advance within high‑demand STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, math), particularly where women are underrepresented. It also supports women already working in those fields who wish to take on executive‑level or leadership training. The grant is not intended for degree programs (for example, master’s or higher); it’s for certificates, credentials, or training programs with a minimum of 400 instructional hours.

The maximum award is $8,000. Funds can be used for tuition, fees, required materials, transportation, and even dependent care where needed. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and must already have a bachelor’s degree.

The program values things like clear career goals (how the certificate or training will lead to job or advancement), evidence that the chosen STEM field is growing (projected job growth over the next 8‑10 years of at least about 5%), and that women are underrepresented in that field. Preference is also given to applicants who have faced obstacles (financial, geographic, or social), or are first in family, or from single parent households.

There are multiple application rounds each year. Only programs that lead to concrete short‑term outcomes (advancement, entering a new role, or better credentials) are eligible. Not eligible are degree programs, general living expenses (outside transportation or dependent care), or work not directly tied to STEM certificate/training credentials.

This grant may be available to individuals and organizations in Wisconsin that are actively involved in Financial Assistance. To locate more funding opportunities in your field, visit The Grant Portal and search by interest area using the Search Grant tool.
